Search for Sex Offenders

Local Sex Offender Registry

The Sheriff's Office maintains the registry for sex offenders registered in San Miguel County and the Towns of Ophir and Sawpit. We also maintain the registry for the Town of Norwood, at their request. For a complete list of all registered sex offenders, contact the Administrative Division at (970) 728-4442 or records@sanmiguelsheriff.org. You may come to the office in person.

You should not rely solely on the sex offender registry as a safeguard against perpetrators of sexual assault in your community. The crime for which a person is convicted may not accurately reflect the level of risk.

The confidential information will be provided to you upon request (so that you can adequately protect yourself and your children from these individuals). The sex offender registry includes only those persons who have been required by law to register and who are in compliance with the sex offender registration laws.

Other Jurisdiction's Sex Offender Registry

The Town of Telluride, (970-728-3818) and the Town of Mountain Village (970-728-9281) may be contacted directly for any registrants in their respective jurisdictions.

Colorado Sex Offender Registry

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) maintains a website of sex offenders  (click on PUBLIC ACCESS TO REGISTRY INFORMATION) who have failed to register and who have been convicted of two or more crimes involving unlawful sexual behavior. The list will contain the sex offender's photograph, physical description, last known address, and conviction information.

Sex Offender Tracking and Registration (SOTAR)

You can search for sex offenders or register to be emailed or texted when an offender moves into your neighborhood on the SOTAR website. Note, the SOTAR list only contains the names of serious sex offenders who qualified by state statute to be placed on the list.
