Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infection that is spread through the air by coughing or sneezing. When infectious people cough, sneeze, talk, or spit, they propel TB germs into the air. To become infected, a person needs only to inhale a small number of these germs from an actively infected person.
Treatment, Prevention, and Testing
For a small fee, the San Miguel County Health Department provides TB skin tests to screen for possible TB infections and the works with the Colorado Health Department to monitor and treat TB. Treatment is free of cost for the patient.
