Veterans Service Office
The San Miguel County Veterans Service Office assists San Miguel County residents who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as their family members and survivors in securing benefits they may be entitled to. Eligibility depends on individual circumstances and discharge from active military service under other than dishonorable conditions. Eligibility for some benefits depends on residency, military component, type of discharge and Veteran disability status.
The San Miguel County Veterans Service Office serves as the liaison between the Veterans Administration and the veteran. Our Certified Veterans Service Officer will serve as your advocate to assist you with the preparation, presentation and possible appeal of your VA benefits. We help you access a variety of services including obtaining discharge papers, filing claims, information and access to benefits like pension, healthcare, education, home loans, survivor death benefits, burial and much more. This office will provide personalized local service to our veterans and other claimants, and to assist you in cutting through the maze of red tape frequently involved in direct dealings with government agencies.
There is no fee for our services.
To help us advocate for you, please fill out the Colorado Veterans Service Office Information Form (PDF) and email it to the San Miguel County Veterans Service Officer.
Emergency Assistance Fund
San Miguel County has also established a small Emergency Assistance Fund for Veterans. Please contact our Veterans Service Officer for an application.
