AMBULANCE SERVICES LICENSING

The Board of County Commissioners, sitting as the San Miguel County Board of Public Health, is responsible for licensing ground ambulance services and issuing ground ambulance permits annually (typically on January 1st of each year).  The Board of San Miguel County approves the operation of ambulance services in accordance with Resolution 2002-22 (PDF).

SECURE TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

The Board of County Commissioners, sitting as the San Miguel County Board of Health, is responsible for implementing House Bill 21-1085 (“Bill”), adopted in June 2021, created a regulatory and service system to provide public or private secure transportation services to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.  The Bill directed each county’s Board of County Commissioners to implement a program, including issuing licenses and vehicle permits for such transports, processing complaints and enforcing the rules associated with the program.  The bill was directed to be in place by January 1, 2023.
