(August 16, 2021) – On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved a third dose of COVID-19 vaccines by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna for immunocompromised individuals.
. In response to this announcement, San Miguel County Public Health has received confirmation for the vaccine rollout from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and has scheduled four clinics for vaccine booster shots for immunocompromised individuals. “With the CDC and CDPHE authorizing vaccine rollout for immunocompromised individuals, the Public Health team has worked quickly to open registration for those interested in receiving a booster,” said Public Health Director Grace Franklin. “Receiving an additional dose has been shown to reinforce antibody response, providing an extra layer of protection to those who are at high risk.”
