Help Bring Back the Pollinators: A Presentation by Scott Black
(Executive Director of the Xerces Society)
June 14, 7pm, The Livery, 1555 Summit, Norwood (next to Norwood Fire Station)
(Free)
Monarch butterfly populations have declined by more than 80 percent and many species of bumblebees are at risk of extinction. Loss of habitat, widespread use of pesticides, climate change, disease and parasites are among the leading causes of these declines.
Although the situation is dire, we have the ability as individuals and as a society to make changes that will help these important animals. A wide range of places offer opportunities for native pollinator conservation, including parks and open spaces, urban and suburban yards, working farms and rangelands, road and power line rights-of-way, and state and federal lands.
Scott Black will discuss the latest science on pollinators, their importance and decline, and what we can all do to help.
Sponsored by the Xerces Society & San Miguel County Open Space Program.
