JOIN OUR TEAM! San Miguel Basin Gunnison Sage-Grouse Coordinator POSITION

 

The San Miguel Basin Gunnison Sage-Grouse Working Group is searching for an enthusiastic part-time Coordinator to implement habitat projects, conduct public outreach, and lead planning efforts to support the recovery of the ESA Listed Gunnison Sage-Grouse. The position is funded through a National Fish & Wildlife (NFWF) RESTORE grant with matching funds from San Miguel County. 

This is a two-year, grant funded contract position working to address urgent challenges facing Gunnison Sage-Grouse (GuSG) recovery in Southwest Colorado while supporting big game habitat and working lands. This regional collaboration will drive on-the-ground conservation projects spanning private, state and federal lands, to improve ecologically resilient landscapes. 

The San Miguel Basin GUSG Working Group has a history of committed activity and successful project implementation, including more than 13,000 acres of habitat restoration efforts, over 150 Zeedyk structure installations, reseeding, fencing improvements, and invasive species control. 


SUMMARY

The primary duty of the coordinator will be to execute project implementation funded by the RESTORE grant (See Priority #1 list). Project implementation will include work with experts and stakeholders to identify and map future high-priority sites for habitat improvements such as Zeedyk structures and draft work plans for the San Miguel basin in order to achieve target recovery goals (See Priority List #2).

This is a two-year funded position, with the intent of extending employment if additional funding becomes available. At that time, other duties may include; continued coordination of working group, project design and implementation of habitat restoration projects, local outreach, and developing local strategies (under the direction of the working group). 


COMPENSATION

This position is a contract-based part-time position at $25.00 per hour. Hours of work may vary with more hours anticipated in summer and fall. Mileage will be reimbursed following the IRS rate ($0.585 per mile in 2022).
