No Open Fires icon

Unincorporated San Miguel County, by order of the Sheriff, will enter Stage 1 fire restrictions effective at 12:00 PM, today, October 20, 2020. Restrictions are set to expire on Saturday, October 24 at 5:00 PM but may be extended.

Stage 1 restrictions are put into place when there is an increasing fire danger based on a number of metrics and procedures. Stage 1 includes relatively minor restrictions aimed at preventing wildfires from human activities that are known to be high risk, specifically smoking and campfires.

*No open fires, no controlled burns, no exceptions or exemptions, even on private property.

*Campfires are only permitted at established campgrounds in established fire grates and must be attended at all times and properly extinguished.

*For any federal land fire restrictions, please consult BLM and USFS and know before you go.

*Please be safe and help keep our county and our state safe from wildfires.
