San Miguel Basin Fair

The San Miguel Basin Fair takes place every summer at the San Miguel County Fairgrounds in Norwood. The Fair Board has established volunteer committees to assist with planning for the annual event. We encourage community participation and also offer a $500 scholarship to qualifying high school seniors.

San Miguel Basin Fair Scholarship

The San Miguel Basin Fair Board offers a $500.00 scholarship to graduating seniors of school districts R-1, RE-2 and R-2J. Applicants must have been or are presently a member of a 4-H club or school sponsored agricultural program and enrolled at an accredited two year or higher institute of learning.  Applications are due by April 1st, 2024.

San Miguel Basin Rodeo

The Norwood Roping Club coordinates the annual rodeo, which usually takes place the weekend after the fair. The dates for the 2024 Rodeo have yet to be announced. Visit the San Miguel Basin rodeo website once dates are announced.

General Fair and Rodeo

The 2024 San Miguel Basin Fair dates are Friday, July 12 through Sunday, July 21. The complete schedule has been announced. Rules for the Fair have been updated to improve rule clarity and to be consistent with the Colorado State Fair rules.

2024 Weigh-In Dates

  • January 28, 2024, 10 a.m., Beef
  • May 5, 2024, 10 a.m., Pig, Lamb and Goat
    Please note: There will be no small animal initial weigh-in. Exhibitors must obtain leg bands from the extension office for all market poultry before the final weighing. Market rabbits must be tattooed before the final weigh-in.
